GONE 1964 32' Islander Sailboat (Ventura CA)
32' Islander Sail boat
located in the Ventura West Marina.
lived aboard this boat for 3 years and loved every minute of it, it kills me to let it go but other priorities are keeping me from getting it fixed up and back out on the water.
As I've mentioned in the title the boat is in need of some attention.
The most significant problem the boat has right now is that the heat exchanger on the engine needs to be fixed.
The engine otherwise is in fine condition and fires up right away.
There was some heavy corrosion on the outer casing for the heat exchanger and the metal broke completely.
If the core of the heat exchanger can be salvaged the repair would cost roughly $500 to get a new heat exchanger case. If the whole heat exchanger needs replacing it's probably around $2000 to repair.
I want to be up front as much as possible about what the boat needs to get back out on the water.
The boat could also use a haul out and redo the exterior paint (bottom and deck). The teak wood trim could use a sanding and refinishing. These repairs are the reason I've decided to give the boat away. I'd love to know the boat is back out on the water, I just don't have the time or resources to fix it myself.
The boat has some modifications for making living on it a little more comfortable if you are the type who would like to do that.
There is a microwave and refrigerator.
There are AC outlets throughout the boat but no inverter.
While on shore power you can use the microwave, fridge, TV or whatever (TV is not included).
Water can be hooked up directly to the shore hose so fresh water is always available without having to use the boat's water pump.
Keep in mind that you would need to pass the live aboard inspection which includes showing that the boat can be put in gear both forward and reverse.
The boat is free to the first person who is able to take it which means applying for a slip and moving the boat to the new slip.
Right now the engine is not fully assembled so you would need to arrange for the boat to be towed to a new slip if that's what you choose to do.
If you want to apply for the slip it is currently I can help to arrange that.
Slip transfer is entirely under the discretion of the staff at the marina though.
Once the boat has a new home I will sign over the boat to you.
